EON BANK’S NEW TELUK INTAN BRANCH OPENS FOR BUSINESS
Group expands network with 140 branches nationwide to service growing customer base

TELUK INTAN, Perak, 11 January, 2010 – EON Bank today opened a new branch in Teluk Intan to service the banking needs of its growing retail and corporate customers in the district. This is EON Bank Group’s 140th branch in the country.

The new branch located at 1B Laman Intan, Bandar Baru in Teluk Intan, occupies two floors of a shoplot with over 3,300 sqft and will be manned by 11 personnel led by its manager Ms Lim Chai Peng, offering a full range of personal banking services as well as wealth management and corporate banking consultations. It also caters for 24-hour self-service banking for ATM transactions, cash deposits and cheque deposits.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, EON Bank Group’s Head of Network Distribution and Management, Mr Looi Kok Soon said that Teluk Intan was an ideal location for a new branch as it was already the centre of operations for many businesses, while boosting a strong consumer market.

“We are continuously expanding our reach to growing communities throughout the country to allow us to build lasting, fulfiling banking relationships with customers,” he said.

The new branch is the first to showcase EON Bank’s streamlined branch concept, which acts more as a touch point with customers. “While increasingly more customers are using Internet banking services and products to manage their deposits and transactions, we understand the value of customer interaction, and we will look at expanding our physical reach by introducing streamlined branches in strategic locations, still providing the full gamut of services but in a smaller space,” added Looi.

“Customer satisfaction is our ultimate focus, and key investments this year will be in ensuring best-in-class standards in delivery capabilities, customer experience and performance excellence, throughout our organisation,” he said. “With this strategy in place, we believe EON Bank will be The Preferred Malaysian Bank in time.”

EON Bank currently services almost 1.5 million customers and is projecting a loan growth rate of 14% and a deposit growth rate of 20% for 2010 through its innovative product introductions, campaigns and promotions planned for the year.

For new accounts opened at its new Teluk Intan branch from now to 10 February 2010, EON Bank is offering a one-time option of securing fixed deposit rates of 2.2% per annum for 3-month placements and 2.7% for 12-month placements. Those keen on opening current or savings account at the new branch will also receive special gifts for opening deposits of RM 1,000 and above.

The latest EON Bank branch sports the vibrant and fresh look that the bank unveiled as the new look for the bank in mid 2008. To date, 30 of the initial 139 branches have been refurbished with another 56 underway. The exercise, at a total cost of around RM 180 million, is targeted for completion by mid 2011.
